Why blog about a Career Center??

So we would like to welcome you to the The University of Alabama's Career Center blog. You might be wondering why anyone would read a blog about a Career Center. Well we think we can give you SEVERAL good reasons to do so!

Reason #1: Each day the staff members of the Career Center hear about students and their struggles with finding a career, choosing a major, and so on. Sometimes these stories are interesting (i.e. examples of how students behave around employers) and sometimes they are stories that EVERYONE needs to hear (i.e. having pictures sent from a Facebook profile to your new boss). We think that this information and stories like these can help everyone. Our office reaches a large amount of students on this campus through class programs, individual appointments, and career fairs, however we hope this blog will allow us to reach more.

Reason #2: This blog will help you at any stage in your job/career search. We want everyone from freshmen to alumni to have access to information that will help!! Although most of the populations that we work with are current students, we work with alumni as well!!

Reason #3: "Chasing Careers" will be short and sweet! We are going to limit most blogs to 500 words but even the smallest blog will in some way help you at some point in your career search!!

Reason #4: Although we have a great deal of resources available on our website (www.career.ua.edu), this blog will allow you to hear DIRECTLY FROM US!!! We will tell you about what we see and what we hear each day from employers, students, faculty, and so on.

Reason #5: You will get to know everyone in the Career Center. Each week will feature a Career Center staff member, from the person you see when you walk in one of our offices to the man in charge!

We could probably think of more reasons but we’ll stop with five. Please plan on following “Chasing Careers” as you work through the process of finding yours!
